Glamour makeup and photo shoot done by myself. Hair by Ashleigh Cole.

I have been studying makeup artistry for the most part of this year so far and I have been having so much fun. Not so much time to do my own creative stuff though. Ashleigh and I hope to do some creative stuff every Monday when we can. So keep an eye out!

Ever thought of giving something back to your community? Love outdoor adventures and teaching kids life skills that they wont get in schools? Why not become a Scout leader?

This video gives you an insight to why Scout leaders volunteer their time and what they get back from it. Scouting isn’t only in New Zealand, it isn’t only in America. I bet there is a scout group near you that needs your help. And if there isn’t, why not start one up to benefit the youth in your community?

Go on, watch the video. See how happy the kids are.

Here it is folks. My 2012 NZIPP IRIS Bronze Award Winning image ‘Red Riding Hood’.
Im so happy that in the first two years of actually getting into photography I have won two bronze awards (one in 2011). It’s an absolute pleasure to me that people enjoy my work, and it drives me when I get something back from it. Im so happy with my work from this year. Looking back on last year or even in school I can see I have improved so much and I am only going to improve for the years to come. I look forward to working towards an even better image next year and fingers crossed I can strive for a silver.
Thank you to all of those who support me living my dream, thank you do all that model for me, thank you to all of those who follow my work, thank you to my tutors and past teachers and lastly thank you to all my friends and family who believe in me and my work.
I cant wait to see where I am and what I can achieve next year while I trek into the real world and hopefully find a job working along side an established photographer.

Am judging the student and assistant category all day today. So many entries… will be a long one. Some neat inspiring stuff coming through. ( :

Not really one to reblog things onto my photography site. But i’m sure you’ll all survive.
Just wanted to show you Richards photo of the Student and Assistant Category judging…. Yes the category MY images are in!!! I got really exited when I saw that Richard would be judging my work, he’s an amazing photographer and I aspire to be like him! I just wish I could be in Christchurch to hear what they have to say about my work.
(Yes I know we have the same last name, no we are not related… Although that would be cool)
Spent hours on Photoshop trying to create this android woman for a competition run fortnightly at Polytech. This weeks theme was mechanical (I know…) so this is what I came up with!

Today I got asked to take some snaps for the makeup students here at Aoraki Polytech. These are taken in front of a white wall lit with natural light coming from a window to the left. (the studio was taken D:) This look was one of my favourites, check out her sprinkle lips!

Today in class we attempted to re-create some photos taken in the studio. My image that I brought along was a portrait with three colours (red, blue and yellow) And we had to figure out how to light the model (Chaunie) to look exactly like the image.
For this one I had 3 lights. A strobe with barn doors and yellow gel to the left of the frame, a strobe with barn doors and a red gel to the right of the frame, and a speed light with blue gel in front. We originally tried the blue using a beauty dish but it blew the blue out too much and just looked too white.

-SPRINKLES!-
Today in class we had a wee ‘Amazing Race’ challenge where we got given a brief and had an hour and a half to shoot, edit and submit it. The brief was to put together a portrait incorporating the use of SPRINKLES! This is what I came up with…

-Katrina’s Maternity Shoot-

Today I had the pleasure to photograph Katrina and her massive baby bump. She has about 3 weeks until she pop’s. We went out to the beach on a nice sunny day and had some fun. The photos came out amazing and she looks absolutely stunning!

-Fear-

Were asked to take a photo during the week for about a month for an assessment. This week we did ‘fear’. I asked Chaunie with her awesome big eyes to model for me. Also grabbed the 50mm lens from corse and this is what I came up with.

Dose it show fear?

Another from our night photography class last night. This is done with a 30sec exposure, with a hunk of steel wool in a whisk that is tied to a string. It is then lit and swung around. Warning, very dangerous!

Went out with class last night to do some night photography. This one is at a 30sec exposure lit with a torch and light from a street lamp. I love the difference of colour temps in this image. To me it shows a victim being watched.
